The Town Centre First initiative is a community-driven project aimed at revitalising Killeshandra, fostering a vibrant and thriving town center. Launched by Cavan County Council, this initiative brings together local residents, community groups, and urban specialists from Studio Myco to develop innovative projects that enhance the town’s appeal and functionality.

Recently, over 60 community members gathered at the Killeshandra Community Hall to brainstorm ideas and discuss the future of our town. The meeting showcased the community's spirit and commitment to creating a better Killeshandra. Key topics included identifying local opportunities such as our beautiful strand lake, green spaces, and rich community events while addressing challenges like vacant buildings and the loss of essential services.

This collaborative workshop approach allowed participants to share their visions for a revitalised town, generating a wealth of creative ideas for projects that can transform Killeshandra into a thriving hub of activity.

Next Steps:
The insights gathered from the meeting will be compiled into a report by the Regeneration Officer and the Studio Myco team, with plans to present it to the community for feedback by early November. With a focus on community involvement and sustainable development, the Town Centre First initiative promises to be a catalyst for positive change in Killeshandra.
